Laid down as Spanish protected cruiser Isla de Cuba by Armstrong, Newcastle, United Kingdom in March 1886, launched on 11 December 1886, completed on 22 September 1887, sunk in a battle with the US navy off Cavite, Philippines on 1 May 1898, salvaged by US navy, repaired and commissioned on 11 April 1900, sold to Venezuela on 2 April 1912, fitted out as transport, gunnery drill hulk since 1929 and sunk as a target on 22 January 1952.
