Enemy submarines sighted off the Northern Pacific coast according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 2 January 1942

An item reported the presence of enemy submarines off the Northern Pacific coast. One was seen around 3 miles south off pacific Ciy, Oregon, USA around 60 miles south of the Columbia river. A Canadian corvette attacked an submarine about 26 miles south of Cape Cork, north west coast of Vancouver Island although with unknown results.
