An item reported that the American destroyer USS Peary was attacked in the Celebes Sea by four 4-engined bombers and 3 dive bombers with British markings but probably Japanese. There were 2 casulaties. The Peary went to the South.

1. DD-340. Part of Clemson-class preceded by Wickes-class succeeded by Farragut-class. Laid down by William Cramp&Sons, Philadelphia, USA with yard number 492 on 9 September 1919, launched on 6 April 1920, commissioned on 22 October 1920 and stricken on 8 May 1942. The attack was on 8 December by Japanese bombers.
