An item reported that on the 7th August M.T.B.s based at Morotai, Moluccas, Dutch East Indies (1) shelled Japanese positions on Halmahera, Moluccas. Others based at Balikpapan, Borneo, Dutch East Indies shelled Japanese coastal defence positions on the east coast of Borneo.
Note
1. The island used by the Japanese as air force base was recaptured by the US Army between 15-20 September 1944.
