Australian Shipbuilding Board ordered building of 2 iron ore bulk carriers according to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 8 June 1957

An item reported that the Australian Shipbuilding Board ordered the building of 2-14,000 tons iron ore bulk carriers by the Broken Hill Pty. Ltd.’s shipyard, Whyalla, South Australia. Both ships were mostly to be used for transporting ironstone to the steel plants at Newcastle and Port Kembla.
