An item reported that the British submarine HMS Stubborn (1) on 25 July sunk a Japanese destroyer (2) in the Java Sea Dutch East Indies.

1. Part of S-class Third Group preceded by Rainbouw-class succeeded by River-class. Laid down by Cammell Liard&Co. Limited, Birkenhead, England on 10 September 1941, launched on 11 November 1942, commissioned on 20 February 1943 and sunk as an ASDIC target on 30 April 1946.
2. The Patrol Boat No. 2, former destroyer Nadakaze. Part of Minekaze-class preceded by Momi-class succeeded by Wakatake-class. Ordered under the 1918 Fiscal Year, laid down by Maizuru Naval Arsenal on 9 January 1920, launched on 26 June 1920, completed on 30 September 1940, renamed Patrol Boat No. 2 in 1940 and stricken on 30 September 1945.
