An item reported that the Italian dictator Mussolini was present when on the Ansaldo shipyard at Genoa, Italy was started with the keel laying down of the 35.000 tons battleship Impero.

1. Part of Littorio-class preceded by planned Francesco Caracciolo-class and realized Andrea Doria-class. Laid down on 14 May 1938, launched on 15 November 1939, unfinished moved to Trieste in 1942, captured by the Germans in September 1943, half sunk hulk found after the war used by the Germans as target and damaged in an Allied air attack on 20 Feburary 1945, stricken on 27 March 1947, raised, towed to Venice and broken up between 1948-1950.
