Laid down on 7 March 1939, launched on 3 August 1939, completed on 31 October 1939, requisitioned by the navy on 14 September 1941, converted into an auxiliary transport between 15 September-23 October by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Gross tonnage 7,064 tons, netto tonnage 4,125 tons and as dimensions 441.5 x 58.5 x 32.8 x 10 (light)-26.9 (loaded) feet. Steam turbine propulsion, horsepower 600 nhp, oil bunker capacity 968 tons and speed 12 (normal cruising)-15 (maximum) knots. Able to mount 4-6”or 8” guns.
