Newbuilding of Indonesian destroyers in Italy according to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 8 May 1957

An item reported that for account of the Indonesian navy 2-1,300 tons light destroyers were to be built in Italy and to be armed with Squid.(2)

Note

1. The Imam Bon(d)jol and Surapati, laid down and launched in 1956 and completed in 1958 by the Ansaldo Yard, Leghorn, Italy. Similar to the Venezolan Almirante Clemente class destroyer escorts. Both were stricken in 1978.
