Scottish Greenland whaling from Peterhead in 1819

Buchanan wrote in 1819 that the that season 13 ships were fitted out for the Greenland whaling. Expenses for each ship between 8,000-10,000 pound sterling. Each ship had seven boats each with six men, equipped with harpoons, lines, lances and so on, commanded by a harpooner, steersman and linecoiler.
