The results of the American whaling between 1835-1872

With an average 25 barrels oil/sperm whale estimated 3,865 whales added to this number 10% for whales mortally wounded, lost after capture totally 4,253 sperm whales. Black whales annually killed including right whales, bowheads, California Greys and Humpbacks with an average 60 barrels oil/whale estimated 2,875 whales added 20% for lost whales totally 3,450 whales. Totally were each year sperm and black whales 7,703 whales killed meaning a shocking 292,724 whales between 1835-1872!
