Japanese troop transports identified in 1938

A letter of the German naval attache in Japan dated Tokyo, Japan 5 July 1938 reported that a liaison officer who had travelled via Shanghai stated that the Japanese troop transport No. 144 berthed there was the Kofuku Maru of which the name was painted over. The steamship No. 116 was the Taito Maru.
