Statement dated 9 May 1662 of merchants Lambert Schaap of Delfshaven and Joannes van Pontegem of Rotterdam on behalf of merchant Johan van Karnebeeck of Rotterdam that they were present on 15 May when Bastiaen Pietersen agreed to sail as harpooner with the ship De St. Jan towards Greenland. The ship was lying in front of the house of Heijndrick de Haes.
