Part of Mahan-class (18 completed) preceded by Porter-class succeeded by Gridley-class. Improved version of the Farragut-class. Laid down by Puget Sound Navy Yard on 15 August 1934, launched on 31 December 1935, commissioned on 28 August 1936 and sunk durign the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal against the Japanese fleet on 13 November 1942.
