Portuguese ship Carvalho Araujo with troops underway to the Azores in July 1941

In his letter No. 889 dated Lisbon 16 July 1941 reported the German naval attaché in Portugal to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine at Berlin the departure from Lisbon of the Carvalho Araujo on 9 July with a machine gun company (280 men), a pioneer company (240 men) and a anti aircraft battery (150 men) to the Azores.
