Australian whaler Earl Stanhope visited Bay of Islands, New Zealand in 1836

Arrived on 14 October, barque, name master Salmon, tonnage 295 tons, belonged to New South Wales, active in the sperm oil fishery, cargo 1,200 barrels oil
