Laid down by Swan Hunter, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom on 27 October 1937, launched on 6 February 1939, commissioned in November 1939, in acutal service on 6 November 1939, beached after a Mark IX torpedo caused an uncontrollable fire and magazine explosion in the harbor of Perim in the Red Sea on 23 June 1940.
