British warships HMS Conquest, Cyclops and 1st Submarine Flotilla visited Drepano, Greece in January 1928

The American Consulate at Valetta, Malta wrote the US State of Secretary on 10 January 1928 No. 223 that the British Mediterranean Fleet under admiral Sir George Keyes (1) was to depart from Malta on 16 January for exercises and afterwards to be splitted into divisions for a cruise to the Levant. The entire fleet was to reassemble at Malta on 2 February. The light cruiser HMS Conquest (2), submarine repair and depot ship Cyclops (3) and the 1st Submarine Flotilla excluded the submarines K 26 and L 15 were to arrive at Drepano, Greece on 19 January, leaving on 31 January and arriving at Malta on 2 February.

1. Roger John Brownlow Keyes, 1st Baron Keyes (4 October 1872 Punjab, British India-26 December 1945 Tingewick, United Kingdom). served in the Royal Navy between 1885-1935 and 1940-1941 ending his career in the rank of Admiral of the Fleet.

2. Part of C-class Caroline-subclass, laid down by Chatham Dockyard on 3 March 1914, launched on 20 January 1915, completed and commissioned in June 1915, decommissioned on 13 July 1918 and commissioned between February 1922-1930 and sold to be broken up on 29 August 1930.

3. Bought when under construction as passenger ship Indrabarah, launched by Sir James Laing&Son, Sunderland, England on 27 October 1905, commissioned on 5 November 1907, repair ship, converted into a submarine depot ship between 31 January 1920-21 December 1922 and broken up in July 1947.
