Part of Project 611, V611 and AV611 called by the NATO Zulu-class attack submarines preceded by K-class succeeded by Foxtrot- and Golf-classes. Totally 26 planned and built between 1952-1957. The NATO identified 5 sub-classes Zulu I-V.
