Compartmentation as protection against torpedoes in the future dated 13 March 1943

Reavis wrote that protecting the submerged area of a ship against torpedoes by means of anti torpedo bulges, guards, nets and so on was not the definitive answer. The next step would be developing torpedoes which could dive using automatic rudder control and than going up for hitting the ships’bottom. Except for more armor on the bottom was increasing the compartmentation a well alternative.

1. He was an industrial and marine working as illustrator and writers for newspapers but also for the United States Lines and other shipbuilding related industry. In the 1950s he made promotional maps and brochures to celebrate the passenger ship ss United States which won the Blue Riband in 1932.
