Her armament consisted of very heavy anti aircraft batteries and her own defensive fighter aircraft but lacked heavy guns and had to depend for her protection on escorting heavy cruisers. It was possible that she would have two flight decks one above the other. Types of aircraft to be based on board were torpedo planes and dive bombers. To facilitate take-offs was an accelerating moving runway availble. With a displacement of 22,000 tons were her main dimensions 750 x 95 feet and her speed 32 knots.
