Japanese auxiliary escort carrier Otakisan Maru 1944-1948

Converted Type 1TL tanker. Part of Special 1TL Type also called Shimane-class preceded by Shinyo/Kawasaki-type oiler and succeeded by Special 2TL Type escort carrier. In fact consisted the conversion of adding a  full-length flight deck, a single elevator and rerouting the boiler uptakes to the aft starboard. No island or catapults. Could carry 12 aircraft. Laid down by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Shipyard, Kobe, Japan on 18 September 1944, launched on 14 January 1945, driften and sunk when striking a mine on 25 August 1945. She was at that moment 70% completed. Broken up at Kobe in 1948.
