Part of Project 11540 Yastreb/Neustrashimy-class preceded by Krivak-class succeeded by Admiral Gorskhov- and Admiral Grigorovich-class. Laid down by Yantar Yard, Kaliningrad, Russia in 1996, launched in May 1988, commissioned on 24 January 1993, after a refit rejoined the fleet in April 2023.
