Part of Town-class Weymouth subclass preceded by Active- and Topaze-class succeeded by Hawkins-class heavy cruisers and Arethusa-class light cruisers (1913). Ordered under the 1909-1910 Programme. Laid down by William Beardmore and Company, Dalmuir, Scotland on 21 February 1910, launched on 20 September 1910, commissioned in September 1911 and torpedoed by German submarine U-66 on 19 August 1916 and sunk off Flamborough Head on 20 August 1916.
