An item reported that the British submarine HMS Shark (1) operating off the Norwegian south west coast messaged on 5 JUlt 22:50 o’clock that she could not dive driving 10 knots. A force consisting of 2 cruisers and destroyers was sent to support her but could not find her. According to a German report was her crew saved by aircraft and patrol boats.(1)

Part of S-class preceded by Rainbow-class succeeded by River-class, ordered on 2 January 1933, laid down by Chatham Dockyard on 12 June 1933, launched on 31 May 1934, commissioned on 31 December 1934 and scuttled on 6 July 1940. She was damaged in a German air attack near Skudeneshavn, Norway on 5 July 1940. Her crew was taken on board by the German minesweepers M-1803, 1806 and 1807.
