British whale factory ship (ex-Carmartenshire 1913-1929) Sourabaya 1929-

Owner in 1939 South Georgia Co. Ltd., managers Chr. Salvesen&Co. Homeport Dublin, United Kingdom-flagged. Completed by Workman Clark&Co., Belfast, Northern Ireland in February 1915, converted into a whale factory ship in 1929 and as part of convoy HX-212 southeast of Cape Farewell torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-436 on 27 October 1942. Gross tonnage 10,107 tons, under deck 9,036 tons, net tonnage 7,194 tons and as dimensions 470.2 x 58.3 x 32.2 feet.
