Laid down by Ansaldo, Genoa on 29 April 1925, launched on 28 January 1927, completed on 14 November 1927 and sunk during a British aircraft of the British aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious attacking the harbour of Benghazi, Libya on 16 September 1940.
