Call sign HPEL. Panama-flagged. Owner in 1939 Vestfold Corporation. Laid down by Furness S.B. Co. Ltd., Haverton Hill-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, England for Hvalfangers A/S Vestfold (Johan Rasmussen&Co.), Sandefjord, Norway in July 1930, launched on 16 April 1931, completed in July 1931 and sunk by the German submarine U-268 when part of convoy HX-222 with a cargo of fuel oil and landing craft on 17 January 1943. Gross tonnage 14,547 tons, under deck t9,942 tons, net tonnage 8,277 tons and as dimensions 538.1 x 74.x 33.3 feet.
