American gunboat USS Tutuila PR-4 transferred to China according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 21 February 1942

An item reported that the USS Tutuila lying at Chungking, China was being transferred to the Chinese government. The J.I.C. commented that with this transfer the Yangze Patrol ended.

Laid down by Kiangnan Dockyard and Engineering Works, Shanghai, China on 17 October 1926, launched on 14 June 1927, commissioned on 2 March 1928, classified as PR-4 on 16 June 1928, decommissioned on 18 January 1942, transferred to China under lend-lease on 16 February 1942, renamed Mei Yuan stricken on 26 March 1942, changed in permanent transfer on 17 February 1948 and scuttled to prevent capture in May 1949.
