American sailing sealing ship Governor Endicott in 1838-1840

Antarctic sealing ground south seas. Rigging ship. Captain Holmes, tonnage 298 tons, sailed from Mystic, Connecticut on 11 July 1838 for the South Seas and arrived at home on 5 September 1839 with 1,300 barrels of sea-elephant oil. Tender was schooner Plutarch of 81 tons, captain Stevens. Departed on 1 December 1839, captain McKinstry and wrecked on New Holland on 8 JUly 1840.
