Part of K- or Acasta-class preceded by Acheron-class succeeded by L- or Laforey-class. The class numbered 20 ships, of 12 which built while using the common Admiralty-design and 8 so-called builders’specials. The Acasta-class was in September 1913 redesignated K-class. Built under the Naval Programme of 1911-1912. Admiralty K-class design. Laid down by Harland&Wolff, Govan, Scotland with yard number 364 on 18 January 1912, launched on 20 March 1913, completed in January 1914 and sunk in Moray Firth on 9 August 1915 after hitting a mine laid by the German raider Meteor 9.
