Part of Town-class Weymouth subclass preceded by Active- and Topaze-class succeeded by Hawkins-class heavy cruisers and Arethusa-class light cruisers (1913). Ordered under the 1909-1910 Programme. Laid down by Vickers, Barrow shipyard on 19 February 1910, launched on 14 February 1911, commissioned on 16 October 1911 and sold to be broken up on 13 December 1930.
