Call sign DOQO. Owner in 1939 Norddeutscher Lloyd. Launched by by Deutsche Schiff- und Maschinenbau AG Weser, Bremen, Germany with yard number 891 on 14 December 1934, completed in 1935, commissioned on 3 May 1935, sold to Japan in 1942, converted into the aircraft carrier Shinyo using steel of the fourth never completed Yamato-class battleship starting in September 1942, commissioned o 15 December 1943 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Spadefish in the Yellow Sea on 17 November 1944. Gross tonnage 18,184 tons, under deck 13,618 tons, net tonnage 10,712 tons and as dimensions 625.6 x 74.1 x 41.0 x 29 (loaded) feet. Turbo-electric propulsion, two screws, horsepower 26,00 ship, oil bunker capacity 3,200 tons and speed 20 (normal cruising)-23 (maximum) knots.
