Shows an exercise of the Squadron of the North recently organizhed and consisted of the ironclads Marengo, Suffren and Ocean and the coast guards Furieux, Fulminant and Tonnerre. The despatch vessel Epervier twos a rectangular float with a length of about 2 metres upon which is a wood made frame with two canvas balloons mounted. The balloons had a diameter of 1 metre and a rod with a length of 1 metr, one balloon is black the another white. The whole is a floating target for the main armament of the ironclads consisting of 4-27xm and 4-24cm guns, for the Furieux 2-34cm guns and the other tow coast guards 2-27cm guns.
