Laid down by Ansaldo, Genoa on 29 April 1925, launched on 2 January 1928, completed on 9 June 1928, commissioned on 9 October 1928 and sunk in an attack by Swordfish torpedo bombers of the British aircraft carrier HMS Eagle on the harbour of Tobruk, Libya on 20 July 1940.
