Japanese naval force arrived off Bali, Dutch East Indies according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 21 February 1942

An item reported that in the night of 18 February a Japanese naval force consisting of 2 cruisers, 4-5 destroyers and 4 transports arrived at Bali, Dutch East Indies. The force was the next day attacked with heavy bombs by aircraft scoring 3 direct hits on one of more cruisers, two direct hits on the destroyers and 8 nearly misses on the destroyers. Wit light bombs were 1 cruiser and 1 transport hit. Despite landed Japanese forces of the size of a regiment at two points northeast and south of Den Pasar probably capturing the airfield. According to a Dutch statement attacked an Allied naval force (1) in the evening of the 19th with ships and submarines the Japanese naval force which withdrew at daylight the next day.

Note

1. This must be the Battle of Badung Strait in the night of 19-20 February between the Allies (USA, Netherlands and United Kingdom) against the Japanese which was a victory for the latter.
