1. Van origin German (Oldenburg) shipowner and merchant Feliciano Velho Oldemberg was active in the tobacco trade between Brazil and Portugal-North Africa. Sinds 1753 he founded the Companhia do Comércio da Ásia Portuguesa after being allowed to trade with the Estado Português da Índia and China during the next 10 years. In 1760 he went bankrupt.
