An item referred to the newspaper New York Tribune which reported that an Italian designer (1) prepared the plans fir a torpedo boat destroyer with the size of a battleship. The destroyers had at that moment a displacement of 700 tons, the concept Italian torpedo battleship one of 15,250 tons, a length of nearly 500 feet and a speed of 24 knots. Her anti destroyer gun armament numbered 2-4.7” quick firing guns. As a protection to be able to get near enough of her prey was she armored with a belt of Krupp armor between well below the waterline en 10 feet above with a thickness of 12” and with protective decks inside. Further more were provisions made to localize the injury when hit by a torpedo. Her own main armament were 30 submerged torpedo tubes suitable for the improved 18”Whitehead torpedo. She could fire a broadside of 15 torpedoes and able to recharge.(1)
