Laid down by Armstrong Whitworth, United Kingdom on 16 February 1897, launched on 26 November 1897, completed on 28 March 1899, acquired in August 1899, maiden voyage begun on 22 May 1899 and lost after hitting a rock in the Hangzhou Bay on 25 April 1904.
