Part of Isokaze-class preceded by Kaba-class succeeded by Momo-class. An updated longer version of the Umikaze-class. Built under the Hachi-hachi Kantai program and to escort the newly built fast battleships Yamashiro and Ise. Laid down by Kure Naval Arsenal, Japan on 5 April 1916, launched on 5 October 1916, completed on 28 February 1917 and retired on 1 April 1935
