Dutch whaler De Hoop op de Walvisvangst sold at Amsterdam 16 October 1769

Sold on an auction Monday 16 October 1769 in the Nieuwezyds Heeren Logement at Amsterdam the whaler De Hoop op de Walvisvangst. This extra ordinary seaworthy sailing fluyt ship had as master Cornelis Adriaanse Oud. Her dimensions were 115 x 30’6”x 13’2”, the verdeck 7’0” and the S. 9’5”(?) in Amsterdam foot. Costs ƒ4.800, with and adjudication of ƒ 100. R. Hageman on behalf of his master. Cornelis Adriaansz Out Nanning Adriaansz was a commandeur in the Greenland whale-fishery. He sailed in 1769 in service of Reynier Post at Alkmaar. He returned that year without a catch while the ship was leaking!
