The Turkish fleet of 30 ships, commanded by Tahir-pacha, which left the Dardanelles, arrived at Navarino. Four days earlier, 10 May, departed the Egyptian squadron towards Alexandria.

The prizes until now made, were much worth, most important was a Turkish ship loaded with gunpowder. Two pursued Egyptian frigates managed to escape in the night. From Alexandria came the tidings that the French admiral De Rigny persuaded the Pasha to wait for another 3 months with sending the new squadron towards Modon. The Pasha intended to have also a fleet on the Red Sea and ordered 4 frigates to be built in Sweden and 6 at Venice. Building of ships at Marseille was to expensive. The building of a frigate already started at Marseille was even stopped.
