London, 5 November. According to an official announcement of the Brazilian cabinet was the minister van navy appointed as supreme commander of the squadron still loyal to the cabinet. He hoped that he succeeded within short time to suppress the revolt. The cruiser Sao Paulo departed with secret orders.(1) The crew of the torpedo boat Voyaz which mutinied seemed to have surrendered. Another tiding however reported the outbreak of mutiny on board of the Sao Paulo and that coastal batteries shot at her.

1. This wasn’t a cruiser but even a dreadnought battleship and she was indeed taken over by mutineers which sailed with her to Montevideo to obtain asylum. Laid down at the yard of Vickers, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom on 30 April 1907, launched on 19 April 1910, stricken on 2 August 1947 and sunk in 1951 while underway to be broken up. Her main armament consisted of 6x2-12” guns added by 22-4’7” guns and 8-3pdrs.
