British troop transport returning at Portsmouth according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 28 November 1817

An item dated London 21 November reported that on 11 November the transports Alexander and London arrived at Portsmouth and on 14 November the Ocean coming from Ile-de-France at Portsmouth with on board the disabled of the 22nd regiment. The ships departed on 25 July transporting a third of the 12th regiment or about 300 men while the other men voluntary choose to serve in other regiments in India. The 12th regiment served for 21 years in India, of the men which departed at that time to India just 2 officers and 30 soldiers returned.
