The strength of the Swedish navy according to the Dutch newspaper Koninklijke Courant dated 17 October 1807

An item dated Frankfurt 10 October reported that the Swedish battle fleet consisting of 12 ships of the line and 8 frigates was lying at Karlskrona. The so-called Scheeren fleet consisting of chebecqs, gunboats, galleys and demi galleys, gun and bomb scows and so on consisted of 5 squadrons which were concentrated at Swenburg, Abo, Gothenborg and Stockholm and in the past before Pommern was evacuated also at Stralsund. Including the transports numbered this fleet 500 units. The sailors are recruited or delivered by the sea districts and certain town which as compensation had some exemptions. The recruited sailors numbered just 1,500 men while the fleet had a personnel strength of 7,200 men which could be increased to a number of 14,000 men when the reserve was called.
