Turkish naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 10 December 1875

From Constantinople were details received dealing with the Turkish naval strength. At that moment were 8 armoured frigates with 112 guns, 6,650 hp and 5,120 men, 9 armoured corvettes with 39 guns, 4,000 hp and 2,173 men, 2 armoured ram turrets with 8 guns, 400 hp en 438 men, 7 armoured gunboats with 14 guns, 1,700 hp and 405 men available en of wood-built ship 5 frigates with 115 guns, 2,600 hp en 3,087 men, 26 steam yachts en steamboats with 112 guns, 3,668 hp en 4,429 men, 34 smaller steamboats with 85 guns, 528 hp en 1,282 men. Further more were 4 mainly used as transports wood-built ships with 2,500hp and 2,784 men, 9 cutters and 5 dredgers with 2,354 men available. Totally consisted the Turkish navy of 135 ships with 641 guns and 28,462 men.
