British transport Tudor transported the Italian Legion from Italy towards England according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikschee Courant dated 20 September 1856

An item reported what happened on board of the transport Tudor referring to an item earlier published by the British newspaper The Times. The transport Tudor brought the men of the Italian legion to Liverpool from where they were destined for America.(1) When the ship was off the Sicilian coast tried an officer named Anghea and who already suffered in the past from mental illness his best to persuade the soldiers to go on land, start a revolt and to return to Italy. His efforts were not successful while the soldiers were more interested in seeking their fortune in America and the officer was taken prisoner.

1. This so-called Italian Legion or British Italian Legion was recruited since November 1856 to serve in the Crimean War and was in fact consisting of mercenaries. A month later was the legion already disbanded and saw never service in this war.
