A tiding from Constantinople reported that the knight Vergennes, French ambassador at the court of the sultan that if he did not succeed to prevent Albanian pirates active in the Archipelago captured French ships (recently even more as ten) he would order the French squadron in the Mediterranean to destroy these pirates. Secondly he demanded that the Turkish court would return the captured ship while France Ottoman empire were not in war.
