USA Maritime Commission ordered building five freighters at San Francisco according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 16 September 1939

An item reported that the Maritime Commission ordered the building of  five freighters by the shipyard of the Western Pipe&Steel Company at San Francisco, each costing 2.127.000 dollars.
