An item reported that on 30 April a German submarine torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean the French troop transport Colbert of 5,394 tons. She was underway to Saloniki. The Soldaten Courant dated 18 May reported that she was sunk within five minutes by the German submarine commanded by lieutenant Launburg with just one torpedo. She was transporting troops and war stores from Marseille to Saloniki.(1) The edition dated 23 May reported that French government tidings confirmed her loss costing the lives of 51 men on board.
